I bought some wet wipes with witch hazel. I've never used it before but it says it's an astringent so I'm wondering if it burns the skin. Does it work for itching?

In my experience it does not burn and it does work for itching. I find the wipes easier to use than something like Tucks.

I've used a witch hazel product in my eyes for allergies and to help with burning. I think it's a great product (if one isn't allergic).

Have you used the wipes yet? How have they been working for you?

You can also but witch hazel in a bottle at the drug store. You can add it to a bath or sitz bath type thing and soak in it. (dilute it with water) it is very soothing. This is also safe for things like stiches- This was recommended to me after chilbirth and worked great.

I had a hemorrhoid and, besides the ointment prescribed by my doctor, she suggested that I might use a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel. She recommended keeping them cold in the fridge, and then applying the cold wet ball to my anus for 5-10 minutes.
I did this a few times. Fine. Then I left it on for perhaps 25 minutes. I've had a red and burning anus since then. Sigh. Don't do what I did.
