Hi... I have already had my consulation and I am just waiting for the surgery now. I was just wondering if anyone with young children has ever had a reduction? I have a 3 1/2 year old (not much of a concern) and a 9 month old. My husband can take about 2 weeks off to help me out. But will I be able to pick up my baby at that point or will there still be too much risk. I really want this done... but I am just worried about how to handle it with kids.
thanks

I do not have kids but I have recently had a breast reduction I am now 11 days post -op and have been able to do some lifting. My best friend recently had a baby and I am able to pick him up....then the other day I was at the zoo and helped my friends son who weighs 30+ lbs on to the carousal. I mean at 2 weeks you will still have the sutures in possibly ( mine are in for the first 2 weeks) so you will have to take it slow but I dont see why you can't take care of ur baby after 2 weeks.......I however would still ask my ps and get his/her advice...well hope all works out!

I am 23 and i have a 3 year old and an 18 month old. I am a very busy foster parent. I have breast reduction surgery 6-15-06. I was in a lot of pain especially in the hospital due to me being allergic to morphine, darvocet, percocet. I felt a lot better getting home and taking the Lortab the doctor had given me (10mg codiene, 500 tylenol) I took it easy for as long as I could and the doctor gave me permission to return to work after 10 days on lots of restrictions ( i work in a residential facility for troubled teens) I kept having lots of seeping and sharp pains. Anyways I thought I was getting and infection and I ended up going to the doctor and he peeled off my scabs on a few places that I had slightly popped the stitches on the bottom and said I did not have any infection to keep it clean and covered with antibacterial cream. Well as of today I have a hole the size of a quarter that has opened up and my fatty tissue has came out of it about a half inch or so. It hurts so bad especially to bend over and pick small things up! In two weeks I will go and have a few stitches put in it because I have requested it. Dr. really doesnt want to do it but I insisted we needed to do something because I was sick of looking like this. I do not regret having the surgery done and my back feels much better but this spot should have healed by now! I had a friend get this surgery done in another town about an hour away from here around 2 weeks after me and her breasts look awesome!!! I was so impressed and very jealous of her outcome. (but she doesnt have children just animals) I hope this helped you. Keep me updated and let me know how it goes!
