is there any thing new in the vitamin supplement products for Downs people? my daughter is 8 and we can not get her to take the Nutrichem or NutriveneD products, she knows their taste and does not like it at all. I am looking for suggestions on how to get ther to take these products or another brand that will accomplish the same nutrition input. she will not swallow a pill either. Any ideas?

Just to clarify-

you are speaking of the vitamin used to 'treat' DS, right?

Or are you speaking of vitamins to supplement another condition?

I don't think you can treat DS, I am looking for products that their bodies can digest and absorb because, as I understand it, DS people do not breakdown vitamins and minerals properly so if you do not give them a supplement that is formulated to be absorbed differently they will not get the nutrition needed from their food.

I'm sorry to jump the gun. There's controversial 'treatment' advertised in England to 'treat' those with DS. It's repulsive, really, but that's my opinion.

With my younger brother the Drs recommended keeping him on 'baby' vitamins longer than you would the usual child, because they are easier absorbed. Liquid vitamins, too, but they are rather messy and nasty to handle.

I wish I had more to offer, but that's the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

Good Luck.
