Hello all!

I just recently started taking Loestrin 24 Fe, which my doc prescribed to me after I complained about my very irregular menstrual cycles. There are 24 active pills, and four placebo pills. I just finished my last active (white pill) yesterday, and I am supposed to start taking the first placebo pill tonight.

I want to skip my period this month, but I am wondering if it would be effective considering that I have only been taking them for one month so far. Also, I am kind of confused as to when I will get my period if I do take the placebo pills as normal; do you get your period the week that you take the placebo pills or later?

I wouldn't really mind if I got done with it this week, but I just don't want to have spotting for about two weeks after already having my regular period (this happened last month) Anyway, I hope I didn't sound too confusing, I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks everyone:)

Well, because Loestrin 24 FE is so new I couldn't find any info on skipping your period. Does it say anything in you pill insert?

They claim that the period lasts on average 1.8 days after a few months use. I don't think I would want to try missing the first period after only a month as it may mess up the whole cycle. The idea is to get it established with your body. I would think eventually you should get your period the days you take the iron (inactive) pills but at first it may be a little irregular.
Please keep us posted on what you decide and how it goes. I'm interested to know more about this method.
A period only lasting 1.8 days could be the answer to many girls dreams!

Well, I decided not to skip the non-active pills because I didn't want to mess with my cycle. The morning after I had taken the second non-active pill, I got my period! I was surprised, as it was so on time whereas before, I never knew when I was going to get it each month.

The best part....it was the first time that the duration of my period was so short: only four days! Compared to a period that on average lasted a week or more sometimes, I was elated. Also, I have had no spotting as I did in the first month. I will keep continuing to take the pill and I don't think I will ever skip unless I absolutely have to because I do not want to mess this up. Thanks for all your advice Mayam:) Good luck to anyone else on this or other BC pills.
