We JUST had our insurance terminated and our having a difficult time finding a insurance company that will cover him, we are self employed so there is not alot out there. Your child, depending on your income, is eligible for Supplemental Security Income, for the disabled, even at the age of 8 months. With that comes Medicaid insurance. In California we have Regional Centers for help in caring for disabled people, including developmentally disabled infants like those born with Down Syndrome. Ask your doctor for help finding the services they have in your state. Your child has a lot more options than you may know. Good Luck! Keep us informed. We care!

The book Downs Syndrome a parents guide may be a handy resource as well as your county ARC. If your little one is in an early intervention program they should be able to direct you to the right people to talk to.
Good Luck!

I want to thank everybody who replied to my message board. I have since gotten Keaton health insurance from the state of Kansas and are now in the process of applying for SSI benefits and Healthwave hopefully to help ofset the premium for the insurance. It is alot of paperwork but well worth it. Thanks to all.......
