Well, the nurse was here last night and I gave myself my first Avonex shot. It was much easier than I had thought. :blob_fire My husband is planning to give me shots in the arm, and I will do the thigh shots. The nurse said it is best to use all six sites to avoid scarring etc.
My husband was convinced he could do it till he saw me do it. He may be able, but just in case does anyone give themselves shots in the arm? The nurse said you could do it by leaning against a chair or a wall. It sounds very awkward.:dizzy:

I have done my shots in the arm. I pretty much do the same thing, lean against a chair, wall, or my table. I also thought, are they crazy! But it really wan't bad at all. I have found that I have more redness in that area. Hope that helps!

I never tried the shot in my arm. Have been doing it in the thigh every week for 9 years.....so far no scarring because I rotate so much. That is way too awkward to try to hit your arm yourself.
My husband has given me shots in my gluteus a couple of times....
Once he did it in my arm and all of a sudden I felt something wet trickle down my arm.......the needle wasn't screwed on tight enough and that very expensive medicine mostly ran down my arm.....my fault, not his....
Best tips for the shots are: Ibuprofen a few tabs an hour or two before the shot. Lay an ice pack over the site for 15 minutes or so to numb it up good.
Good luck.
