I'm at my witt's end. I have been having excrutiating pain in my right side for 3 days, been to the dr. and tonight the ER. Both dr.s seem to think it is muscular but I'm unconvinced. My questions are:

1.If this is a MS related muscle spasm, wouldn't it have relaxed by now? also, is it the kind of pain that worsens with any movement?

2.I also had an episode of vertigo the day before this started, and very frequent belching/reflux...any of you had a flair with multiple symptoms occur like this?

I have posted before about my various and sundry symptoms and have admitted to the depression that comes with not feeling good and no one can tell you what's wrong and gosh, all I want to do is cry, then they want to put you on an anti-depressant- even my husband is beginning to question whether I may have some clinical depression :blob_fire - it gets to you.

I'm sorry for the rambling - just needed to vent to others who KNOW what this is like. Take great care, all of you

Cindy,

I have had chronic spasms to where I couldn't walk.I've had them in the spine and the right side of my stomache.Mine worsened with movement, when I moved the muscle would get tighter.I now take baclofen, zanaflex and quinine for the spasms and they have lasted a year.Physical therapy has helped some.Try to stretch that area out.I know the pain is over whelming,it would be so bad I'd cry.
Yes,you can have multiple symptoms with a flair up.
Depression can go hand in hand with MS,not knowing is extremely hard.Taking a mild anti-depression med will help you cope, depression and the stress will make symptoms become severe.I took a mild anti-depressive,the advice was from others here and it was great when it come to coping with the whole diagnostic process. It didn't cover up any symptoms and I no longer need it

Vent all you need to,its theraputic

my muscles are always tight,, and having spasms all day long,, i have horrible joint pain everywhere in my body,, it started really bad about 2 yrs ago and has gotten worse and worse,,, i go to a pain specialist now, but all he can do it prescribe pills,, i never wanted to be on pills,, but i have to do it,, he says i will never be pain free with the MS but wants it at least down to a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1-10 i go back once a month and he adjusts it some more,, hopefully someday i will find something i can be compfy with,, i try not to complain and i never do unless i am so bad i want to die then i will break and my husband massages me and stuff,, i know it sucks,, and today is a bad day for my MS and on top of that my central air unit stopped working and it is only 2 months old! i keep telling myself, God won't give me anymore than i can handle,, but he sure is checking on me now and seeing how much i can do"

Thanks for the replies...

I'm feeling somewhat better today, i.e, I can move without crying. I've had lots of facial twitches and "spot" headaches today along with a weird period of itching which lasted about 30 minutes. Of all my symptoms, the one that is present always, day in and day out is the twitching. I even had my ear twitch- very strange sensation.
The dr. now wants to revisit some of the labwork I've already had- I'll humor her and do it, hoping that one day, I'll get something definitive.

Take great care and God bless!

Cindy,

Glad your feeling a little better. The dreaded revisit the blood work.I get tired of humoring Drs.I just had mine redone also.I had my neuro check the myelin basic protein in the blood serum, which was high.I read of this test on the net, they are doing it in test over seas. Its been pretty conclusive with a diagnoses with MS.They check the spinal fluid for myelin basic protein and the blood for it and if they are both elevated its a precursor that you have MS.I had a LP that came back high for myelin,so what the heck why not humor me.I wish they could come up with one specific test that tells if someone has MS or not.Keep us posted

Please forgive me for stepping in on this thread and going off subject a little but was wondering if you could give a little more information on this blood test you requested they do on you Toni? I'm tired of humoring these doctors and it's high time they humor me! Where did you find the information about this blood test? Is there a specific website? I typed several different things in the search box but couldn't find anything specific which could be printed out and carried to my "wonderful" doctors who know nothing. I've decided I must bring them everything in writing from now on and personally read it to them so they will understand.
