Hello. I have just received my second Orthovisc injection for OA in my knee. I had surgery in November for a torn mensicus and of course the arthritis has gotten worse (which I was told up front would happen). I have not been pain free since I injured the knee in Sept. 05 and was really looking at these injections as my opportunity to achieve this goal without more surgery. I read a lot about these before they started and it seems people either get good results or no results. I also know it can take several weeks after the last injection to get any relief. My question is this... has anyone had an issue with worsening pain after the injections. The pain in my knee has increased dramatically since this second injection (was a little worse after the first one). The knee is not swelling but I can not get it comfortable in any position. I did tell my physician about the increase and he seemed unconcerned. Now, after the second injection and again the pain has increased even more I'm concerned. Any insight you can share will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deborah

Hi
I am getting "Hyalgan" injections in both knees. I'm 6 wks post op from having a scope done. I injured my knee, couldn't walk for a long time so a scope was needed. I have severe osteo arthritis, if injections don't work then the only thing left is a TKR.

I think Orthovisc injections are like the hyalgan, but I really don't know what sets them apart. Do you?

My second injection is this Wed. Both knees hurt A LOT more after the first injection... and I'm having a lot of pain & swelling right at the injection site still 4 days later. They said it will be sore afterwards & maybe even bruised some. ...haha. I didn't get any bruising though.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I won't be so worried and will keep hoping this will delay surgery. Seems like he left the part out about I could be in more pain. Then he babbled something about partial knee replacement which of course I tuned out - stubborn is my middle name and I really hate the thought of having more surgery on my knee right now. Hope all goes well for you. Thanks again. Deborah
