Hi everyone! I was browsing through some other boards on here and this one caught my eye. Having been on several types of BC I wanted to share my personal experiences. I was originally on Ortho-Tricyclin. No problems except for remembering to take it and my skin looked amazing. I switched to the depo-provera shot but experienced a ton of weight gain and some flu-like symptoms. After a few months I decided to switch to the patch but found out I was already pregnant on the depo!!! I went back to the Ortho-tricyclin but took the low dose pills next. My skin didn't look as good and I still couldn't remember to take them. I stopped birth control for a month while I researched options and lo and behold I got pregnant again. This time I've opted for the mirena IUD and so far I had heavy periods the first three months with breakthrough bleeding between them. After that I skipped four months and even my doctor was convinced I was pregnant despite the IUD. The pregnancy was never confirmed however and I had my first regular period this month. Everything seems fine with the IUD now. Hope this helps some of you. Also please do your research!!!! Nothing is fool proof and everything has side effects.... Best wishes.
