Hubby has been in bed since Wed. with HA. Was down two and a half weeks in July. Has been to Family Dr. at least four neurologist and is scheduled to see a neurosurgeon on the 23rd. Has five bulging discs in neck and two pressing against spine. Don't know how long he has had these. Has had MRI's, CT's w/wo contrast you name it over the period of 25 years. They have gotten worse probably in the last ten years. We are hoping there is an answer in the discs pressing against the spine as this is something newly discovered. No meds seem to help. Anyone suffered headaches from neck problems??? We are at witts end. He is at least out of the bed right now. We all need some new answers....

Hi, I suffered for a long time from neck related headaches, it was horrible!! I finally was sent to a pain management doc who put me on a med called topamax. It was a life saver for me. I have a bulge in my neck that is resting on a nerve that causes my headaches--or did. I've been headache free for a little over two months now. I did have an esi that made the headaches come back for a short time and all we did was up my dosage a little and the headaches are gone again.

I don't know if it would help your husband or not, but it may be worth asking about. I read about the med here and asked my doc about it and I'm so glad I did. The side effects aren't always fun--but we're here for you if he decides to try it.

He has been on that twice. The first time up to 200mg. He couldn't take the side affects. So quit taking it for a year or so. Decided to try it again and got up to 50mg and he couldn't think straight and the tingling. Right now we are waiting to get in to see a neurosurgeon. Did I say he has five bulging discs in his neck and two are pressing against the spine and one further down in his back also pressing against the spine. I hardly ever had a headache and if I did it was once a month and three ibuprophen took care of it. I just hate it when he gets one which is a lot. Last month he was in bed for over two weeks and this time from last Wed. until yesterday. He took two imitrex yesterday. We have storms around this morning and that is a trigger. Thanks for your reply. It helps to talk to others.
