I've been poked and prodded and poked again. I'm looking for answers.

Just had ACTH stimulation test and MRI. ACTH scores as follows: 1.7 ug cortisol base, one hour test: 24 ug , one and a half hours: 27.4 ug cortisol. they say it was pm test but it was 9am. Lab normals: 1.7-16 whatever that means.

Symptoms: severe muscle aches, weight gain (30 pounds in 3 months) (which is DRAMATIC since I had RNY gastric bypass in Nov 04 and no eating changes), some loss of muscle function (urinating difficult), dizziness (always worse around time of menstrual cycle but hormone levels are TOO LOW to have a cycle, possible menopause), fatigue, vision blurry in left eye, facial pain (esp. chewing), stretch marks galore, hump slight but there, arms thin, excess hair and more. Hypertension in last 3 months, cholesterol and triglycerides elevated as well. Vitamin D serum below normal. On serum test, cortisol very very low.

Age 45. Was diabetic type 2 16 years, blood sugar been under control since wls Nov 04 - off all meds, (lately though having blood sugar SPIKES, however AIC is PERFECT at 5.4), ovarian cyst syndrome, peripheral neuropathy (complication of diabetes) very painful, have chronic pain feet and hands, Restless leg syndrome, possible menopause.

Had normal body density scan. Waiting to see endocrinologist. Rheumotologist says I don't have RA but diagnosed me with auto-immune and is initiating testing. Neurologist sending me to neuromuscular specialist.

Someone please help me! Thanks, Julie

ps. Just had to add after looking at next post....what about cylical Cushings?

I just wanted to write (because no one else has) and let you know I feel for you. I just spent 9000 out of pocket for lap-band surgery back in April and can't lose weight. Lucky for me, someone on one of the boards recognized this and mentioned Cushings. I hope we both get some answers.

In order to rule in or out cushings you need many more tests.
You also need a doctor who gets it. The average endo, actually even above the average endo does not...

Could you get a dr to order a few 24 hr urine cortisol tests, a few saliva tests that are done in the evening, and a few nightime serum cortisol tests?

Always get copies of your test results too, they sometimes look over things.

Good luck!
