View Full Version : Will my periods come back?

I have been recovering from bulimia. I was essentially anorexic after my son was born in October 04 but continued to have regular periods until November 05 when they started coming 40-50 days apart, then three months with no period, now two months with no period. I was 135-140 pre-pregnancy and dropped to 110 pounds in November (I'm 5'4''). I have gained up to 115 pounds (now I have swollen fingers and extreme bloating) and have stopped vomiting. I want to have another baby. Has anyone had any experiences with getting periods back during recovery from an ED? Thanks. Is the swollen fingers, bloating, etc a side effect of recovery?

Hey ngolden-

I am also recovering from bulimia and have had anorexic tendencies in the past. I haven't had any personal experience with losing my periods but I have had terrible digestion problems when I stopped throwing up (bloating, stomach pain, constipation). Bulimia really screws up your digestive system and it takes a while for everything to start working properly when you stop throwing up. Give your body time and it will naturally line itself back out. I hope everything works out for you. I am a Mom of three and I know firsthand how hard it is for your body to balance an eating disorder and pregnancy at the same time. Take care.

God Bless You:angel:
