Has anyone taken anything at the start of a cold so that it won't last too long or to reduce the severity? My wedding is in 12 days and I just can't be sick...bad enough that I'm pregnant on my wedding day! Darned daycare  Ds was just sick. Any herbal teas or anything?

Contact your doctor before taking anything, unless it was on a list that he/she has already provided to you. My doc gave me a standard list of OTC meds that I could take during pregnancy, but for anything else, including vitamins, teas, etc. I needed to get his OK first.
Congrats on your wedding!

I take Zicam at the begining of a cold, although I don't know if it is ok to take during pregnancy. The best thing I've ever found, though, is first: drink hot tea with lemon and honey - i think decaf will work just fine. Drink it like all day long until the cold feels better. The heat and lemon and honey and antioxidants will chase it away. Second: take some fresh garlic - take a couple of the cloves out and peel all of the skin off. Put it in a pan in the oven on 350 for like 10 - 15 minutes or until it starts to brown (I like to cut it up a little). Eat it whole or if you can't stomach that, cut it into little pieces, mix it in some margarine and spread it on some bread. You will feel better in no time and it's all natural and safe for the baby. (the garlic will probably start some wicked heart burn and gas, but that means it's working. My husband is from Russia and they only use home remedies unless they are dying. This is what his grandma did for him, he had me try it and it is like a miracle cure!! Works for flu-like symptoms too.

I like Zicam, too. I have been doing tea and honey and I am allowed 1000mg of vitamin C a day. So far it's not been full blown but it's still lingering. I will try the garlic. Thanks!

Sara,
I worked for a chiropractor for 3 years, and saw a lot of pg women come in complaining of a terrible cold/flu. The Dr. told them to try B&T cold supplement. It is all natural, and totally safe for you and baby. Many women I knew used it a lot during pg, including my sis, and they were all fine. They also have a nighttime and a daytime formula. If I were to have a cold I would take it as well! Good luck on your cold, and on your wedding day! I am sure you will be better!
