I have been taking omeprazole ( 20 mg ) for several years now because my doctor believes i have a reflux disorder. from time to time and more often now is the symptom i get after drinking alchohol or warm drinks such as tea or coffee. after swallowing the fluid, i exprience a short lived stinging / burning just below the rib cage where the eosphogus joins the stomach.
does anyone have similar problems or is this common of this condition? any advice or help much appreciated
thanks

I only drink cold water but many have posted that coffee, carbonated drinks, and alcohol can cause heart burn.

I have no trouble with coffee or hot drinks, but carbonated and alcohol cause me pain and burning and belching, so I mostly avoid them. occasionally i'll have one beer.

Supposedly we're all supposed to avoid all those things - alcohol, carbonated/caffeinated drinks, and milk, etc.
Anyway, for me, no drink (or any food, for that matter) causes me direct problem except for alcohol. I am a teetotaller (really don't like alcohol's taste - yuck), but I do try to commune at church. But even the little shots of wine I find, in the last several months, KILL me for about 10 min. I burn from throat to gut. It is the only item I've ingested that directly hurts me.
