You guys are great and know so much about this horrible thing we are all suffering from. Need to ask a question. I would love anyone elses opinion to.

As you probaly read I have been taking two nexium daily. Have been doing that for about 2 weeks now. The symptoms are not as bad but still bad enough that I still suffer. How long will it take if the nexium works. does it get better gradually? The lump in my throat seems better, but still get some burning and have to clear my throat all the time. Still have a little lump once in a while. Also still have burning and sick to my stomach at times. Worst symptoms in the moring before I take one nexium and before the second nexium at night. Sometimes I get sick before bed.

i do not know if I should call the doc again? Or should I wait longer???

i can't really answer that for you since I haven't taken nexium and had too many side effects with prevacid to continue --so I'm not a success story with PPIs.

Thanks anyway Backslide. I begining to feel as if nexium has stopped working. It seems I try something for two weeks and then the symptoms get really bad again.

Be careful about anything new that happens while taking Nexium. I started getting chest pains (that were not heartburn) in my first two weeks so I went to the doc and he upped my dose. After that, I started getting numbness in my fingers, toes, and lips and they told me to keep taking it.

I took Nexium for about 6-7 weeks and it did what the Dr. said it would do. I got relief almost by the next day from the buning. The throat clearing never did really go away-but it didn't burn or hurt.

Now, I've deceided to discontinue Nexium and see how it goes. I'm on day 9 and other than a few burns in the evening after dinner (I think may have been caused by trying to cheat and eat a few chocolate chip cookies) I'm doing OK. I've taken a few Tums here and there-but no real pain-yet anyway.
