Hey everyone.
I'd really appreciate any feedback you have on Restylane injections.....
Here's the deal:
I am having my septum (nose) fixed on Monday - next week.
I just remembered I have an appointment for Restylane (smokers lines) this Thursday. - That gives 3 days between Restylane and Nose surgery!
So, my qustion is:
Is this bad scheduling on my part?
Is it OK if the Surgeon is touching the lip area during my surgery?
I'd really like to keep my Restylane appt. if it's no problem.
Any experiences/advice would be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks
Angie

I'd follow your doctor's advice, the one who is performing surgery on your nose. Your lips will swell and you might have some bruising, as well as lingering ***** marks, which last about a week. You have to have realistic expectations about Restylane. Initially, due to the swelling, the effect is more pronounced and does subside, to a more "normal" state. 1cc, which can cost about $500 primarily defines the lip line and plumps the lips up some. 2cc.s is ideal, though costly. Restylane only lasts about 4 months, not the 6+ months that you hear about. A maintenance program is best, where you have touch ups about every 3-4 months. Also, alot depends on what you are trying to achieve with injectables. As far as doing your lips, prior to your other surgery, I'd say, just be prepared to have a sore nose and sore lips, at the same time. I've also learned that a little Botox, above the upper lip, combines well, with the Restylane. I was worried the Botox would make my lip droop, but, such a small amount is used, that it primarily smooths out any fine lines, complimenting what the Restylane does, in filling out any lines.

I've had restylane in my lips and it was a good result. And I hope this reply isn't too late. But I think you should reschedule the restylane until after your surgery. It's not good for the surgeon to push on that area. Plus your face will be swollen because of the surgery. So wait till it heals and then you can enjoy the full benefits of both.

I've had restylan in the UK and Europe with no problem. However medical opinion is that botox is not advisable on the lower face /around the mouth area because of its muscle paralysing effects.

I had a very small amount of Botox, on the upper part of the lip, and it helped alot. But, I stress, a small amount, which is common practice amongst doctors. It combines well, with the Restylane, in evening out any vertical lines, above the lip. Still, the Botox doesn't last very long, above the lip area, as in the forehead.
