I did it cold turkey !!! The first three days were hell on earth but I made it through. someone recommended root beer barrel candies to help with nauseia (SP?) and they helped alot. I had a motivator my son has asthma and although I never smoked in my home or car or anywhere near him his Dr said that the remaining smell in my hair and clothing is aggravating his condition I'm a mom what else could I do, plus he's been asking me to quit for a year or so. I just want to be around for him for as long as I can.
You can do it the longer you wait or plan it out the greater a task it becomes in your mind I didn't plan a date I just woke up and thought to myself let's see how far I can go without smoking and now it's almost 9 weeks. If you make it through the first week you've got it beat it's just a matter of figuring out a way to handle the stressful situation in life in a different way.
Good luck you can do it If can anyone can I'm 39 and the first time I picked up a cigarette I was 10 regular smoker by 12 or 13

Liamsmom...
That's GREAT!!! :) Keep up the great work, and don't ever smoke again!
Patcher...good job...congrats to you too! Hang in there...it will get easier. The first year I had a lot of ups and downs..but it got better and better. Keep your mind busy when you get cravings...or things get tough. One day it will get to where you just won't hardly think about em any longer.
Good jobs girls...
Deda
And Maya...you can do it too!
