They will mostly ask you what is going on in your life
They may check your thyroid, if this is off it can cause some feelings of anxiety.
They will ask you what you what you feel when you have anxiety.
If you have a good dr, it should not be bad.
good luck to you, let us know how it goes!

Its going to take quite a while to convince myself to go, knowing whats going to happen when/if I go will definatly make it happen quicker though. Doctors give me the worst anxiety.
I heard they might do a complete physical? thats one of the things making me hesitate, its allready gonna be uncomfortable and hard to talk about, I think that might be a little too uncomfortable for me if its anything like I remember it being when I was a kid.

How often do they do anything other than just check thyroid and ask a few questions? Is it the best bet to assume thats all that will happen?

I am sooooo afraid of doctors its unbeleivable but I bit the bullet and went and it was fine. Although go in and get straight to the point.
I made the mistake of asking to get my eyes tested and at the end I said I had a little anxiety and he basically dismissed it. I ended up going back 4 or 5 times and eventually I told him to scrap everything I had ever said and start a fresh.
My advice is to go in, tell him straight how you are feeling and let the doctor worry about it. After all, that is what they are there for.
The doc will probably do some checks to make sure nothing serious is going on then will prescribe meds to relive your feelings and may even offer counselling.
Ive refused meds and personally feel I am coming out of it and I am much better than I was 4 months ago with this stuff to the point my life really isnt that badly affected anymore.
Stay off these boards for a while, get your head sorted and figure out what is really bugging you and tell the doc. The Doc will know the best route out of it all and you will end up a happy person again.

I'm terribly afraid of doctors myself, but I've never had a problem talking to one about the anxiety. I've never had a Dr. do anything to me except talk and suggest the thyroid test....no physical. You might want to consider seeing a psychiatrist. You just tell he/she what you are feeling and they can help you with meds or send you to a therapist that you can talk to. Going to a Dr for anxiety is much better than suffering from the anxiety itself.
