Just wanted to let everyone know, I had my LEEP yesterday under local. It was not exactly what I had expected, but I'm glad it's over.:)
I will describe my experience just in case anyone is curious...:confused:

After getting all set up as usual... I had a giant sticky pad stuck to my thigh for grounding of the instrument. They use a larger speculum that has a hose attached for vacuuming up of the smoke! Then the vinegar... stings a bit, then the iodine, then the shots..... ouch! then okay, then a little shaky due to the vaso-constrictor in the numbing meds. Then they do the procedure... not so bad except the shock I got at the end:eek: . Almost jumped off the table. Made me think my gyn doesn't do this too often.

Afterwards, I cried a little. Not sure if relief that it's over, that maybe the whole thing just scared the crap out of me, or worried about how I can wait two weeks for the results? I flet like a whimp for crying. I apologised to my husband like ten times for over-reacting. He was very good about it though. I told him I wanted to be stronger, and he said I am strong. He said he'd proabaly cry too if someone took a peice of his vagina:rolleyes:

I took a sick day from work today. But I feel fine. A little discomfort, but not too major. Maybe after lunch, I'll go shop a little to be able to get a walk in.

Anyways, I like this forum and wanted to let others know what to expect when they have it done. The pamphlet they give you doesn't give all the minor details like I like to have. Thanks for all your help!

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I am having the procudure done on the 21st of this month and am a little nervous. I've read so many different accounts. . .some woman say "no big deal" and some say it's horrible. Your version is very helpful!

I think the different experiences are mainly due to the anastetic...I was under general so I was completely under. Mine was about 2 years ago. Here is my experience:
I went to the surgery waiting room and they called me back. They gave me an IV of saline so that I was hydrated and then I waited as different nurses and the surgeon and the anestesiologist came back and asked me questions. After about and hour they gave me something to make me relax and took me back to the operating room. My gyno/surgeon asked me if i had any questions and then they put the grounding thing on me. Next they put the gas mask thing on me and I counted backward and fell asleep. The next thing that happend is that I woke up in the recovery room and saw my parents and boyfriend. Afterwards they told me not to eat for like 12 hours because of the anestesia. I went to O'charleys anyway...lol...and I was fine. I didn't really bleed for about a week and then I started to bleed really bad and clots came out..I know that this is graphic but we all are going through it...Overall it was not a tragic experience. yeah, it's not fun but I think that I had a good experience. I think the reason they put me completely under is that most of my cervix was removed.
