Hey all,
I'm 20 and I've been on Propecia for over a month and a half and I swear since I've been on it my hair has just been falling out and shedding and it is thinner than before I started. Is this normal? Is the hair maybe reacting to the hormone? Maybe it will grow in thicker or stronger? This is what I am hoping. Anyone taken Propecia and had this happen to them? It's kinda freaking me out b/c I look worse than before I started. Thanks!!

I have been taking it for just about 2 years now and at the beginning I really noticed shedding...apparently its totally normal.
In fact, I think that over the course of two years, I shed a LOT of hair, even though it is way thicker on top than it used to be.
Propecia definitely worked for me.
The other thing is that I noticed my front is still losing, not at the arte it was I dont think but I shed way more in the front than anywhere else...I might have to start on the rogaine soon.
I also took saw palmetto for a long time, and Omega3-6-9, zinc, etc.
Don't know if it helped but it can't hurt!!!:p
Gentleman, let me give you the age 32 perspective.
I watched my hair slowly go, starting from age 19 or 20. I do mean slowly, but just enough to cause me grief. lol
Did Rogaine (around age 24, for about 2 years) and Propecia (around age 26, for about 4.5 years) throughout the years, but I still "looked" balding to anyone who saw me. For the last few years, I was convincing myself that the money was ok to spend because I was "probably" maintaining hair, but I hated how I looked in any picture that showed me with a recede or bald spot.
Finally, at age 31... I finally had enough of propecia. I just started shaving my head completely. And my fear - most balding men's fear - of not finding a woman could NOT have been further from the truth. Apparently, I caught the eye of a great looking woman - and I had a shaved head and a "Scott Ian" beard.
Not the end of the world guys... even you 20 year old guys, who can pull the look of better than some older guys.

Same here! My head with no hair, I'm trying to push that to 30. And since I am taking Proscar and cutting the pills into 1/4ths and using generic it is only costing me $10 for a four month supply!! So I'm gonna give the pills a chance!
