Sponsor kaz39 08-09-2006, 11:28 AM hi, my mum was dx in jan with advanced stage, she went to the doctors with bad pains in her lower left side, and bowel changes, they felt a lump and sent her straight to the hospital there she had xrays, blood tests and ct scan, and thats the only way they found out that she had it. up till then my mum never had any signs or pains or anything to indicate what was going on. the only thing she had for a few years was a slight swollen belly. it certainly is the disease that whispers. hope this info helps. Nancy1961 08-22-2006, 03:53 PM Hi: I have a little story about ovarian cancer. In Nov. of last year my mom (a young 73) was diagnosed w/ stage 11b ovarian cancer. She is one of the few that was diagnosed early, meaning that it had stayed within the ovaries, and all staging tests showed that it had not gone to any other organs or lymph nodes. Thank God. The only symptom she had was the feeling she had to urinate more frequently and that her lower abdomen was swollen and she felt bloated. Knowing that she had never had any female problems before or any digestive problems, she knew the feeling in her stomach wasn't normal. Thanks to her knowing her body and having a doctor that listened to her, she was diagnosed before it had gone too far. She had her total hysterectomy on Nov. 28th, and started 6 cycles of chemo the first of Jan. She had her last treatment in April. All tests so far show no sign of cancer. She is doing great. Yes, ovarian cancer is a silent killer, but just being aware of your body and any changes, even if they seem small, should'nt be ignored. Take care of yourself, Nancy |
