I am up because the twitching and jerking and jolting is distracting me from sleeping. I want to much to go to sleep  . I have an important meeting in the morning. I want to know if anyone knows why the muscle spasms and twitches get worse when I laydown to rest. It's almost like my muscle kick into high gear because I am finally at rest. I mean I have the spasms throughout the day but I notice that when I lay across the sofa or get into bed to watch tv the spasms increase both in frequency, locations, and strength. Anyone know why?

Michelle,

When the nerves are over excited, they miss fire.At rest is when its more noticable. Before going to bed try tonic water with quinine in it.Quinine will relax the muscles and the excitability of the nerves.
I suffered this for months and my neuro finally prescibed a combination of zanaflex, baclofen and quinine at night. Now sleeping is peacefull.

Michelle,

I was having the same issues. I also have fibro and have a great deal of pain right along with those spasms and jerks and twitches. My doc put me on 12mg of Zanaflex. It has really helped. I only wake up once during the night instead of the usual 6 to 7 times that I was waking up. Talk with your doc about it.

I wish you well. Take Care:angel:

Thanks, Ladies.

I put in a call yesterday to by GP for a neuro referral. I am waiting to hear back. This time I specifically requested a neuro that specializes in MS. For now, I am journaling everyday. NataliesMom, I do have some pain throughout and day and night in various places. I have for the past couple of months gone to bed after taking 600 mg of Ibuprofin. I know that taking pain killers on a daily basis isn't a great idea so I have been trying to skip the pills at night. I only take them if I have severe pain the head that doesn't go away on its own. Hopefully I'll get in to see the neuro sooner than the time it took for my last appointment.
