OK, so here's my story. I passed out, was taken to the ER. They kept me in the observation area for 5 days while they tried to figure out what made me pass out. I was driving on a very hot day in a car with no A/C. I pulled over to the side of the road and basically my whole body felt like lead and I blacked out.

So, they ran a head CT, brain with and w/o contrast MRI, EEG, EKG, Heart Sonogram, Chest x-ray, every blood test known to man. The Neuologist came in and told me my MRI was fine. OK, so I probably didn't pass out from MS is what they told me. Everything else except the EKG came back fine. I had to go and have a chemical stress test because of the EKG. But my heart was not the reason I passed out.

The doc came in and told me I have Autonomic Dysfunction. Basically it's pretty common in people with MS. It's just where the nerves misconduct in the area of the brain that tells the blood lines to dispurse the blood where it needs to go so my body can function right. Because of the heat, and the fact that I MS(not good in heat) that with the AD caused me to pass out.

Now, I went and picked up a copy of my MRI. The results showed something, not "my MRI was fine" like the Neuro said in the hospital. It showed that I have a large lesion on the posterior horn of my right lateral ventrical. I have another one on my left basal ganglia, and about 4 in my periventricular white matter, and that these changes are consistant with demyelination.

So, personally I don't feel that my MRI is "fine". I feel that this answers a lot of questions. Like why I've been feeling the way I have. I went to my MS doc and he agreed that my MS is progressing because my left side is not getting better with phyical therapy. Plus I have not had any sort of "remission" in the last 2 years. I'm pretty ticked that that doctor said my MRI was fine. She should have let me know about that instead of me having to find out on my own and taking the info to my doctor.

Ok, I'm done venting and writing my novel. Thanks for reading.:)

Are you on one of the CARBs? How frustrated you must be!

hkholwerda: Yep, I'm on Avonex even though I'm progressive.

Jenallen: Yes, she knew I was an MS patient because she was a partner with my MS doctor. I had no idea about any new lesions. I've not had a brain MRI since February. She could have at least called my MS doctor whom she knows and said hey, I have a patient of yours over here who passed out and we just did an MRI and she's got quite a few lesions, you want me to fax you the report? So yea, I'm pretty ticked about that. I wonder about these doctors sometimes???
