I was wondering if anyone knows of it is common for your heart in some cases to "continually" skip a beat. Continually not meaning every second beat, but maybe like once an hour or so. It is also absolutely random. I have listened with a stet scope to this actually, and you can follow the beats very well, and then suddenly when you want to nod your head where a beat should be, there is just nothing, and you kind of get this "sinking" feeling in your chess for that split second. I also noticed that it happens more I think when I concentrate on it. When I am stressed or waiting in anticipation, it can actually happen every 5 minutes, but when I just forget about it, it may not happen for a few days .....

I am in VERY good physical condition (or so I thought) and a 23 year old male. Also I might add that I am a welder by profession, and sometimes get a mild electric shock. But so does everyone else who works with me, and they are all fine and old. But I just felt like saying this ....

I am not qualified to tell much of anything but I can tell you about an experience.

My doctor told me that I had skipped and extra heart beats every once in awhile but that they were benig. I didn't even notice mine so I don't think it would be something serious.

I also dont really notice mine, except most of the time late at night when I lie in bed and think about it the whole time ....

I have these too and quivers and flutters sometimes every several seconds all night long and I cant sleep.Good thing is it comes and goes for me.I wore a holter monitor which recorded several and was told they are PVC's (Premature Ventricular Contractions) and of no real concern.Things that can trigger heart skips etc. are ...caffiene (sodas, coffee, chocolate, anything with caffiene) some cold meds, smoking, stress, anxiety.I am sure your fine I think most people have these some dont notice some do ..some have thousands a day some just a few.

Purple Heart,

It is not uncommon and I think almost everyone has some occasional missed beats. For me, it tends to happen when my BP is too low or else just seemingly out of the blue.

I find that daily magnesium supplementation keeps the phenomenon down to a rate of near zero for a lot of people (myself included.) Give it a try.

Welding uses a low voltage (typically 24 volts) that really has verry little efect on the body's electrical systems.

purple heart,
Most of the time skipped heart beats are of no serious concern. I had them and did not know it at first until my doctor detected them. For those who the beats bother them, their drs may put them on meds. Have a check up it can't hurt. I think you will most likely be okay. Let your dr know you get those shocks at work, even the voltage is not high.
