Hello to all of you on my new board!

I have had vertigo/double vision for 1 1/2 mos. I had a change in taste, sweets are now sour. Throat issues and cognitive problems, like holding train of thought and short term memory.

Primary Doc ordered a MRI. Had multiple lesions. findings new from a year ago. I had a MRI last year for migraines - no findings. My vertigo/double vision is nystagimus. My right eye is bouncing back and forth. Also, pain in knee caps and elbows. Neurologist saw me and suspects it is MS, but won't treat until further diagnosis. I have a lumbar puncture on Friday.

Questions-

Is there treatment for nystagimus? Will MS medications rectify my eye troubles?
I'm scared to death for the spinal tap. Any suggestions on how to get through it? I'm very prone to headaches. I'm affraid I'm going to have the worst one ever.
Also, is pain in knees and elbows a MS symptom?
I'm affraid to learn what type of MS I have. I just know it is going to be the progressive type!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.;)

Anxious,

I'm not sure about meds for nystagimus, the crabs for MS will slow the MS down and lesson the flair ups.
Lumbar punctures are not that bad.Drink plenty of water the day before and plenty of caffinated beverages afterwards.Follow the directions of your GP.
Pain can be associated with MS.Usually progressive MS has more spinal lesions and more brain atrophy from existing lesions.Sometimes attacks can last a while then subside.
Try not to stress about the LP,stress can make symptoms worse.
You'll get alot of support here and a wealth of info
