Saw my orthopedic specialist yesterday and he has also been recieving reports that fluoride is not good for the elderly when it comes to osteoporosis.

I will continue drinking Ozarka Natural Spring Water, has no fluoride (I called Ozarka to find out).

Thought others might be interested in this.

I use prescription flouride tooth paste and a flouride rinse everyday for my teeth but neither are swallowed. What type or forms of flouride was your doctor talking about? Just the flouride in drinking water? I drink bottled spring water so get any there.

Don't it figure? All these years I've been drinking our faithful ole well water. Then our Christmas Tree farm neighbor decided to give up on marketing trees and got a permit to put in a 40 and a 22 acre lake and our well after all these years starts running dry on us so at 64, retired and w/osteoporosis we have to put in city water - with its flouride. Sigh. Now I'm supposed to pay for both city water for the house and bottled water to drink???

The darn lakes also dried up the old flowing well on some vacant property just down the road from us too so that option is out. We used to LOVE that flow on a hot day when we were horseback riding in the area.

Progress!!! Ptooooey!!!!!

Taape,

Fluoride rinses tend to provide many times the EPA designated safe amt of fluoride. The tissues of the cheek, tongue, & under the tongue are highly vascular & will absorb fluoride quite well.

Best wishes.

Taape,
We were discussing drinking water. The amount of fluoride in drinking water is not good for the elderly (great for children developing bones). I had been reading about this for a long time and decided to ask the orthopedic specialist about it. He was head of orthopedics at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Most doctors at medical schools are on the cutting edge of new developments.

Most bottled water contains fluoride. However, the Ozarka Natural Spring Water does not (I called Ozarka).

Another orthpedic doctor I saw for my knees told me many treatments they have used for years is now considered wrong.

Like many things they tell us something is good and then later on down the road, like several years, they tell us it is not good for us. Hard to know what is good and what is not.

I don't see how pure Spring Water bottled at the source would have flouride added to it. I mostly drink Crystal Geyser and I don't think Flouride has been added since it's bottled at the source at Mr. Shasta. I don't know what to say about the flouride rinse but I need it to keep from getting major cavities leading to tooth loss. It's the only thing that has worked for me.

Well, now. There are areas of the country where flouride occurs naturally in the water. For instance, there is an area in SW Michigan that has naturally occuring high flouride content in the water. I used to live not too far from that area. The area I lived in had a VERY high iron content.

Taape, you can Google Crystal Geyser and see what they say in the Q/A section.

They claim they do not add fluoride to the water, but there is a small amount naturally occuring fluoride, ranging from 0 to 0.7 parts per million.

Many water companies not only purify the water but also add fluoride. I know they do not just pipe water from the spring directly into the bottles, it goes thru a purification process for public safety.

I am glad to know that Crystal Geyser does not add fluoride, will give me another option other than Orzaka. Orzaka claims there is 0 fluoride in their natural spring water.

The natural fluoride will depend on where the springs are located. Some areas have high fluoride content and others none. My husband grew up in a town with lots of natural fluoride in the well water.
