I know I've been such an advocate for topamax as it has really helped my headaches an awful lot and given my life back to me, but my eyes have really started to bother me. I recently had to up my dose from 100mgs to 150 then back down to 125 a couple of days ago due to side effects. All along my eyes have always felt very tired, or so I thought, but lately they are seriously killing me and last night I actully had an eye headache. I have called my doc's nurse about this and have not had a return call.
Has any one else had this problem?

Topamax has been known to cause "eye" problems. After being on Topamax for 3 years (last year) for me it was "dry eyes" & an "eye infection". Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.
Both easily cleared w/meds.
I notified my Neurologist however, I went straight to an eye doctor & had the eye doctor mail/fax the findings to my Neurologist.
My eyes (eye sight) are more important to me than a migraine.
I wouldn't wait if I were you.
Good Luck!

Thanks! My primary did set me up with an eye doc and I found out some interesting info! The topa doesn't appear to be causing any of my problems at this time thank goodness:D But... While the topa is masking the pain, it cannot make some of the other symtoms go away, like the flashes in my vision from a migrain or the soreness in my eys. The doc said the the headaches are actually still there along with all my other symtoms, I just can't feel the pain. Also, stress is a big factor!! Wow! I had just called my doc the day before and told her I was having a problem handling my new pain with my arms and shoulders and wasn't handling things well. (Mentally as well as physicaly). In the meantime the eye doc has prescribed some type of steriod type drop to use in my eyes for a while--hope it works. I will also try to deal with my stress a little. I guess you learn something new every day!
