I just found this board and already I am greatful. My grandma went to the Dr last week for sholder pain and tingleing in her arm. They ruled out heart problems and sent her for an x-ray. When they got the x-ray back they told her she needed to come in to get the results. She went in for her appointment yesterday. When she left she had heard the worst words imaginable. We think it is bone cancer. Her bones are eroding away. The ones effected are her ribs. She had a full bone scan today and will have the results tomorrow. They did tell her there was a chance it was some blood disease, but she does not remember the name of it.

I feel numb. I do not know what to say. I keep assuring her that no matter what, things will be okay. Inside I am so terrified. I just sit and cry.

What should we expect? What should we do? What what what. I have never felt this lost. :(

firest of all let me say

I am so sorry for this diagnosis, My mom had breast cancer that metasised to the bones and it started in the rib area she was placd on hi doses of morphine and most of the time it barely helped the pain this cancer is very hard on the patient and the family, just be supportive of her dont tell her it will be ok and that it will go away , just be there for her. if you can get the dr to have hospice get involved in her treatment process because they are a wonderful group they help with the pain meds and any equipment she might need thye are very supportive and they are there for the family as weell as the patient.
