However, if your weight gain is attributed to water weight (5 lbs or so), the weight should go away after stopping the pill. Sartorius 08-09-2006, 10:57 PM thanks, i did not know that the pill made you retain water, but that's interesting. livinTX 08-10-2006, 12:39 PM I had significant water retention on the pill (worse than most people, it was painful in my feet to the point where it hurt to walk). I stopped the pill about 2 months ago and have since lost about 12 lb. I think this is almost all water weight as I haven't changed my diet significantly (other than deciding I would no longer buy chocolate). I am still pretty bloated but at least my weight is back down to where I want it, now just waiting for the puffiness to go. However, some women retain water right off the pill, particularly if you were taking Yasmin. So you might get the opposite experience from mine... pinkkangaroo 08-11-2006, 03:22 PM My best friend took a b.c. pill for about two months and then she quit. She had initially gained about 10 lbs and completely shed those ten lbs after 2 weeks of quitting. I never gained any weight that i can think of in the four yrs of taking birth control...but after quitting about 10 days ago, my appetite has already decreased. and i've prob lost weight already....but i 've been feeling slighty shaky and sick since quitting...so maybe that's why im not hungry. who knows. best of luck though. livinTX 08-11-2006, 03:52 PM Quitting the pill gave me a significant appetite decrease as well as causing nausea. I am thinking finally (over 2 months after quitting) the nausea is gone, but I do still have a smaller appetite, which is great because I had a raging ravenous appetite on the pill. Frangapani 08-18-2006, 08:58 AM After taking the pill for 5 years I stopped and lost 5 kg and my breasts shrunk a whole cup size, also I find I feel alot better physically and mentally. I started it as a 3 month trial to see whether my weight gain from the pill. MoonLight0 08-18-2006, 01:55 PM I think it's strange when I first started the pill I didn't have any problems with weight whatsoever... But recently I've gained about 5 lbs and I CANNOT get it off no matter what. It must be water weight... It's really weird since I've been on the pill for a year and a half. I definitely don't want to stop taking it because it's been working so well, but the water retention is really bothering me. My fingers always feel swollen and it looks horrible (to me at least). |
