Hi all,

Here's my story so far..

A few years back..maybe 4-5 years I started to get headaches. I thought nothing of it..then it got worse. Became almost like migraines..every day..every night. Finally the pain was so bad my parents took me to the Emergency Room and I got a CTscan.. they said nothing was wrong.

I went to a nutritionist and found out through a blood test that I was allergic to dairy and egg whites. I went off of them..and the migraines went away. I slowly went back on them 6-12 months later..and I was fine.

Now for a week or less..they've come back. Sometimes it will be a dull headache..but a pain nontheless. Other times it can be horrible head numbing pain. Light hurts it. I feel a pain above one of my eyes (sometimes both) Hurts so much I just wanna crawl under a soundproof dark blanket.

Tonight (right now) it's the worst it's ever been so far. My head hurts so much.. I feel light-headed..dizzy a bit..eyes strain at the site of the computer screen (even on low brightness) and light in general, and become nauseous at times (if not all the time). I have back pain..but I doubt that has anything to do with migraines..unless it does and I don't know about it.

I'm also on a diet not to have dairy or egg whites.. because I wanna lose weight. I've also gone off caffeine. Could caffeine withdrawal do it?

Any advice?

Should I go back to the doctor and get another CTscan?

Could caffeine withdrawal do it?
Yes.
If the pain becomes intolorable, consider taking Aleve or some other CAFFEINE FREE asprin.

OR

See a Neurologist that specializes in headaches/migraines. They are usually found at Headache Clinics. Check your local Yellow Pages.

In the meantime, you may wish to keep a Headache Diary. Click the Health Guide tab at the top of this site. In the search filed type headache diary; for instructions on how to keep one & download/printout same.

It sounds like you have not been to an ENT or Allergy doctor and that a nutritionist diagnosed your dairy and egg allergy. The fact that you got some benefit from staying away from the food shows there was definitely a link between the allergy and migraines. I have suffered from allergies for years with horrible headaches once or more per week and only recently found out there is a migraine link, so Imitrol has given me some relief. I would definitely recommend you go see an Allergy specialist and be tested for all food and plant substances. You may well be allergic to more than eggs and dairy and that is why your headaches have returned. If you do have more allergies, you can get shots that over a couple of years, should help build up your tolerance to various foods/plants. Good luck!
