View Full Version : Question about Buspar and medications...

I have my first appointment with a Dr. tomorrow. I've been on many different medications. But I don't know what I want to suggest to him for me to take.
I know that I don't ever want to go on Effexor again. Prozac is good, but it causes me to gain weight and have no sex drive.
I tried Celexa but it seemed to make me a little nervous or in a bad mood.
I have a perscription of Buspar that I never tried or maybe I did but can't remember why I didn't like it.
The only thing I like for my panic attacks is valium. I've had one perscription for that about 2 years ago and it seemed to take the edge off but not make me go to sleep.
I don't like Xanax because it puts me to sleep.

Can anyone give me some advice on a good anti anxiety medication with lower side effects?
Also, if anyone has any feelings for or against Buspar please let me know.
Also, is it ok to ask the doctor for the Valium or do you think he will just say no?

Thank you

My dad was given Buspar his first time seeking help for his anxiety disorder and it helped for a little while. Keep in mind of course everyone is different but it did make it hard for him to work out in the sun. It also made him sleepy.

He finaly after a year of drugs working then wearing off he found one that worked for him. He had to have a valium to take every now and again when things were rough but keep trying and don't get discouraged.

Oh, it was celexa that worked for him.
