CatScanFever

Ok, so I went to a urologist this past week for a pain that i've been experiencing in my pelvic area for almost a month now. I'm 35, male, drink alcohol regularly, and am height-weight proportionate, could stand to lose maybe 5-8 pounds though. My first thoughts were diabetes or some kind of prostate disorder. I searched the web furiously before making the urology appointment. anyway, they checked my urine and prostate, both were fine. The doc asked why I had come in that day, and besides the obvious complaints, I said because there is a history of cancer in my family--a mixed bag of it to be exact--on my dad's side. So, he says that it could be over-active bladder, but writes an order for a CT scan just to "put my mind at ease".
I am not insured as of now, and wont be for another month. Since when does a doctor order an expensive procedure--which in fact most insurance companies don't cover--to "put my mind at ease"? More upsetting though is that he ordered me to have one in the first place. So, I'm stuck in a hard place. The pain is chronic, I feel it throughout the day, but mostly when sitting or crunching my body when doing ab exercises. It is definitely in my bladder region since i can feel it radiate to the base of my penis. Additionally, I experience lower back pain as in the region of sacrum.
Any comments, should I wait on the CT scan or get it done immediately?
