My boyfriend and I have always had protected sex. He has a recurring sore/lesion on the back of his thigh that he gets when he is highly stressed out. Anyways he went to have it checked out and found out he has HSV 2. He has never had an outbreak anywhere else. Can it be possible that he caught it genitally and it traveled to another site where it now "outbreaks" ?
Reason I'm scared is that two to three days after we had sex, I started getting feeling sick. Like I was getting the cold but nothing. It wouldnt be all day just like maybe once or twice a day and it would last for like an hour or so. It is now day seven and I still feel like I am getting sick but no cold . Never had this feeling before. So far I haven't had any sore appear. How long before one appears if I were to have contracted HSV-2? What have you guys experienced before you had your first outbreak?:confused:

There is no set time span that you'll get a lesion and you may never get a lesion at all. I'm not real sure what you mean by "cold" symptoms...usually before an ob, a person will just feel achy, tired and head achy and feverish. Strangly enough, when I had my first outbreak, I had unbelievable post nasal drip feeling or sinus drainage...you know how it is when you have to keep clearing your throat to talk...that's what I had at first. Plus the dull headache so I just thought it was sinus trouble...I'm sure it was related to the herpes OB because each time I'd have an OB, just before I'd get that ridiculous amount of sinus drainage making me constantly clear my throat.:mad:

But anyway, you really should go ahead and bite the bullet and have the blood test done because just because your BF only has the sore on his hip symptom doesn't mean you can't catch it having sex.(and also just because you haven't had any sores doesn't mean you don't have it) I also get a place that pops up on the side of my hip...just about at my hip joint and it itches so bad it's just unreal how much it itches. Thank goodness it has not flared up in a few months but it's almost like a warning flag that I'm going to have an OB because it will start to itch and at that point I'll double up on my supplements and begin taking the Tagamet treatment(see thread Cimetidine and me)...I absolutely swear by Cimetidine!!!! It has been a godsend for me!!!!!!!!! It stops an OB in it's tracks!

It feels like the feeling of getting sick (getting a cold) is gone but now I have noticed a discharge and it feels like I have a fever going on down there. ??? Going in tomorrow and see what they tell me.

Well don't let them dismiss it as nothing because a lot of doctors dismiss herpes if you don't have lesions and will say that you have to have lesions to have herpes. This simply is not true. If you have reason to believe that you could have herpes...like if you've ever had sex with anymore..ha...have them take blood and run the IgG test so you can be certain. There's one member here that said their only symptom was a large amount of discharge but her doctor did manage to tell her it was herpes. Just FYI, on my first OB, I had lots of other symptoms before I ever got any lesions...I think it was probably a couple weeks of other symptoms before the sores popped up.

Well went to the doc as a walk in and finally after three hours was told they would call me when the cultures came back. I didnt get a herpes test because she said it would have been too soon for me to have the test and that I'm not showing any sores/lesions even though I explained to her my bf situation. Anyways ended up getting a pregnancy test, pelvic x-rays (??) and cultures taken to test for yeast, chlymdia, trichomsomething, gonorrhea and bv but no herpes. Tests came back clear under the microscope but they have to see what will grow in the cultures in the next days if anything. ONe thing I did find out. From the x-rays she saw too much stool and suggested I take metamucil. Three freakin hours to find out I am constipated?!!!ARRGggghhh . Now my groin is still burning, I have a discharge and she didnt give me anything until the tests came back. So basically I just have to sit and wait and suffer.
