My insurance has denied me Boniva IV Infusions citing that I would have to have a mechanical swallowing problem in order to qualify for this type of treatment. The first Fosamax pill caused my stomach to burn within 2 hours and I followed the instructions for taking it. I took 2 more pills then switched to Forteo. I have documented stomach problems but that isn't good enough. My doctor thinks I have to do a trial of Boniva before they will agree to pay for the infusions. I'm not sure I want this medication anyways. However, I fail to see the logic in causing damage to my stomach just to prove that I can't tolerate the medications. I'm having a hard enough time tolerating food. Very frustating to say the least.
