i have gallstones, confirmed ages ago by a scan, was due to have my gallbladder out last month but due to having asthma, the anethitist would do it anyway, on tuesday i went up the hosptial in agony, yet again another attack, but i left becasue the pain eventually settled and the waiting room was soooooooo crowded. the pain stayed at a dull ache under my ribcage and my back, then thursday it got so bad again i went back up the hosptial was given morphine and told they dont do the op as an emergency prodcedure unless your half dead, so i came home this time with antibiotics and pain killers, however, the pain is still there, my stomache, well not stomoche, its up higher, is tender to touch and my back seems to go into spasm.. im hardly eating but have a little because sposed to eat with the antibiotics, In the past, i get the attack, its last anywhere up to 4 or 5 hours then goes, however this time its lingering, anybody else had constant pain for a week?
i was also wondering, after the pain gets really intence, urine is almost orange, is that normal?
I no there is heaps of threads on gallbladder, and i have searched a few but havent seen anything about that.
it seems its not just fatty foods that bring this on anymore, its anything! its sooooooo frustrating, anyone got any tips?

thanks :)

Hi Nikki!

I just had mine out last week and what you are describing is just like me. I had stones and was never symptomatic. Well, never until recently. I had minor attacks for a while and then they were not stop almost. Nothing I did or didn't do helped. I was finally eating crackers and drinking water and that kept the attacks mild. I went to the ER, given drugs, told to get a surgeon and have it out. Did that and continued to have attacks. Another one so bad the narcotic they gave me didn't work and I went back to the ER two days prior to my surgery to get something more powerful. Again, sent home and had it out two days later during the scheduled time. If it isn't infected then they like to wait until all conditions are controlled.

From what you are describing a stone may be very close to your duct opening and causing constant attacks. You need to contact your doctor and get it scheduled. I don't know about the asthma issue, but your gallbladder can get infected and cause more problems.

Take care and good luck!

Well, with the symptoms you are describing (especially orange color urine) A gallstone may have lodged in to the common bile duct. That would definitely cause the pain to be much more intense. Stones lodged in the common bile duct (choledocholithiasis) can block the flow of bile and cause jaundice. One of the symptoms would be dark colored urine. I'd suggest that you should get this problem taken care of as soon as possible because Serious infection of the bile duct (cholangitis) may develop.

Orange or tea colored urine could mean that you have developed jaundice. Look at the whites of your eyes..are they yellowish? Or your skin? i hope by this hour you have gone back and they've seen you. Good luck..if they can't see you, maybe there's anoher hospital that will.

There is no reason for them not to take it out because of the asthma. I have asthma and had mine out last year. They just made me bring my albuterol with me and use it before the surgery. I also had foot surgery a few years ago and they gave me a breathing treatment in pre-op. You need a better doctor...get that thing out. It's about to cause you a huge problem.

Hi guys, thanks for the replys.

the pain has settled again thank goodness, i feel almost good lol.

paula, i checked my eyes and they look normal to me, maybe the antibiotics was just taking some time to kick in :)

titch, im not normally an asthmatic, and because of that the anithetist wanted to wait until that went away, it was 3 and a half weeks ago that i was suposed to have the op, they were gonna reschedule for 2 weeks time but they still havent given me a date ( the hospital is sooooo full atm) the anithetist said, if i was normally an asthmatic they would work around that but if they dont have to they wont because apparenty anestetic can cause a person with asthma to have a massive attack while under, thus, causing complications, i dont wanna wake up dead so accepted that as a reason to reschedule, i just hope they do so soon :) was on prednisone and three other inhailers to clear it up so i should be good to go next time round,,

thank u all for ur replys, if i get another big attack i will go back up to the hospital but i think it has settled for nw atleast!

thanks again, hope ya's are all having a great day!!

I have gall bladder problems. They were TERRIBLE for a while. I couldn't afford surgery and I thought I was going to die. My back was swolen so bad I couldn't lie down. Everything I ate hurt me, even if it was just lettuce. I hurt if I got hungry. I hurt pretty much all the time and it was beginning to make me sick. My stool was gray colored sometimes.

In desperation I began researching home treatments and I firmly believed it saved my life. I am nearly a normal person now. Only if I eat extreme amounts of fat... or any amount of butter lately, do I have problems.

The biggest thing for me was epsom salt. It relaxes the smooth muscles in your body, including your gall bladder, so it keeps it from spasming around a stone that's blocking the duct and making it hurt. I took epsom salt whenever it was really hurting. It made my stools quite loose, but not dangerously, and it was so worth it.

I also began taking flax oil. The thought of that scared me half to death. When I read that I thought, "You want me to put more oil in my body???" It was amazing though. It didn't really hurt at all and after a couple weeks I was feeling so much better. It might have been less than two weeks even. I can't remember for sure now. I mixed it with non-fat chocolate milk. It's not great, but it makes a good vessle.

The third thing I did was take a supliment called MSM. I really don't remember much about it now, but I also believe that that, coupled with the flax, contributed greatly to my wellbeing. When my gall bladder starts acting up now I take that for a few days and it evens things out.

I did a lot of research on gall bladder flushes. I was scared to do one because I read an accout of someone getting a stone stuck and having to have emergency surgery. That was the only case I could find though, of it going badly. Everyone else rained praises about how it saved their lives.

One of the flushes involves a good amount of oil and lemon juice though. I made a salad, low in fat as always, because I was terrified of making my gall blader worse, but I did put some cheese in there. I'm sure you know that cheese makes it so much worse. But, I didn't use salad dressing and instead put a large quantity of lemon juice. As soon as I finished the salad I was in such extreme pain. One of the worst attacks I'd had. So I took the epsom salt and went to lie down on my right side. (In case you don't know, that also helps relieve pain.) About fifteen minutes later the pain suddenly stopped. Completely gone. I'm 99% sure I passed the stone. I never saw it come out, but after that I didn't have ANY pain for about a year. I could eat ANYTHING I WANTED! Fish and chips, hamburgers, cheese sandwiches, you name it! Mind you I don't do that too often.

The pain is beginning to come back now. I think another stone is moving to block the duct. I think this time I will do the whole flush. It was truly miraculous.

If you don't do the flush, I suggest you at least do the other things I talked about. It will probably help you like it helped me. Good luck!!

(Sorry for the long winded. Just wanted you to know everything I could tell you.)
