This story is kinda long so please bare with me. Spring 2005 i started having pain in my lower right quadrant of my abdomen. it was sporadic and i didnt think much of it until summer 2005 when it became more persisitent and more painful. i went to see a gynocologist who ran a full STD scan which all came back negative. he did no follow up with me and i went to see my family dr winter of 06 about the pain. he ordered an ultrasound (which showed normal) and referred me to a different gynocologist. i saw her and she on the spot diagnosed me with endometirosis. she perscribed me the lupron shot which did help with the lower right pain.. but not the pain i was having around my belly button. i was also refferred to a GI dr who told me i wasnt getting enough fiber in my diet and advised me to up my intake of fiber. that helped with my hard stools, but did nothing for the pain on the right side of my belly button.

after two months on the luporn shot i requested a exploritory surgery to see if she could tell me what else was going on. she found no signs what so ever of endometirosis, she only found a vericlose vain on my uterus on my right side. i had the surgery spring of 06. when i met with the gynocologist after the surgery she still insisted i had endometriosis and refferred me to a pain clinic to help manage the pain i was having.

frustrated with having no answers what so ever i was learning to deal with the pain in my own way when this month i had a blinding pain in the same spot. the lower right side of my belly button. i went to the er where they did all the tests. nothing was abnomal. they gave me morphine to help with the pain and it did little for it. they kept me overnight and i met with a surgeon the next morning. he said it must be my endometriosis. my first thought was :"that high". my gnocolgist also came to the ER where she came to the same conclusion. i was sent home with pain meds and again no explaniation.

over the next week the pain around my belly button slowly dissapaited. i saw my family dr again who sent me back to the GI dr. my family dr was concerned there was some sort of small block in my GI tract becase of the location i was having the pain. i went to see the GI dr and he told me he was 99% sure it was stictly a gynocological problem. so i went to get a second opinion from a gynocologist. he went over all my tests. all the ulrasounds, all the ct scans, the surgery results and said he did not think i acutally had endometriosis or any gynocological problem. that i had had every gynocological test there is and there was nothing to find. he really thought it was a GI problem- sigh-

i just had a colonoscopy done and theres nothing abnormal. the pain is becoming sharper and more intense and im afraid my doctors are missing something. i know im not making this up but being bounced around like this i am more than frustrated.

the pain feels like a stichy or tugging. but at times it is a sharp small explosion of pain. it lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. it can happen when i doing something, or just relaxing. it happens at all times of the day. it does not seem to get more intense with bowel movements.

and yes i have had my apendix removed.

if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I'm wondering if it could be adhesions (scar tissue) that often develops after surgery and can cause alot of pain. Another thing it might be are spasms. Next appointment with your MD discuss these possibilities.

I also wonder about adhesions. It can be painful. Did your gyno take a good look around your adbominal area? When did you have your appendix out?

Sometimes when we have pain we tend to use too many dosses of pain killer. I used a lot of advil. I got severe "jolts" of pain that hit...then abated..then stayed around like a "bruise"...down deep. As the bowel moves in waves, like when you swallow, it starts a wave that travels your entire digestive canal, there is an interval between those "jolts" of pain; until the next wave hits. Higher up the intestine the wave is about one and one half minute. Lower down, into the large intestine. the wait can be between three and four minutes. If you have "caused a small sore" by using too many advil, or asperin or tylenol. it may only "jolt" you when the peristalic wave hits that sore. When the powers that be can't find it, experiment on yourself. Stop all pain medication, eat yougurt three times a day, cut off the coke and coffee, and go on a no fiber diet for a little while. If the pain goes away you have solved your problem. The respite will allow your sore to heal and you will avoid what caused the problem. Then you can hit the fiber foods harder and ease back into coke and coffee. Don't forget the healing properties of green tea! Get some quality capsuls of it...it bathes the intestine with proven healing compounds. The sore can occur in any part of the bowel. It can cause bleeding and lead to anemia. If you try this plan, and you still have the pain...then it is not the painkillers causing the problem. Something else to rule out in your search for relief.

That sounds a LOT like an inflamed apendix. You should do some research on that. I do know that apendicitis usually starts around the navel and works its way down and to the right, I think about three fingers width from the pelvis. It's also extremely sensitive to the touch.

I don't know too much about it, but I believe that your apendix can be inflamed without being too infected and so it might not show up on bloodwork. I could be mistaken though. I do know that it can get inflamed and then go back down again, though most people end up getting it removed just so it doesn't burst.

Again, I don't know exactly where this pain is on you, but it makes me very scared for you, especially since they seem to have no idea what's going on. Have they looked at your apendix at all?
