I have been taking 40MG of nexium two times a day for about three and a half weeks. It has been working better than protonix. However, every day I still have symptoms and some days horrible symptoms even thought nothing I have done is different. Does anything bring full relief?
I see my GI doctor on Monday and I think even though I have had a endoscope about two months ago. he wants to do it again.
I am worried that I am never going to feel better. I am surpose to go on a cruise the end of Sept., and if I feel like this I do not know if I could go. It is so frustrating.
What is everyone's elses experience around getting better...or not getting better. Any advice?????

Are you taking the doses together, or separating them into morning and night? I'd suggest doing the opposite of whatever schedule you are currently on.

I was a purple pill machine for over a year and still had good and bad days, untill one day I noticed that my acid reflux had just stopped. I not saying it got better I'm saying it just stopped. Now you are thinking 'how?' or 'yeah right!' It just happened to be the side effect of going on the Atkin's diet to lose weight. Along with the weight loss I seemed to have ditched the reflux and the purple pills.I am not saying that this is the answer to everyones AR or preaching the Atkin's diet. Just saying for me it seems that sugar was the fuel for the lava that was coming out of my stomach. :blob_fire

I have been taking them apart. I will ask the doctor if I can take them together. It is starting to bother my intestines. Thanks for your reply.
Allrightnow......I am glad that you are finally feeling better. I will have to check into the food thing. I was on the south beach diet last year. No carbs and I became ill while on the diet. I started to add carbs as I really was not having any and it seemed to asorb the acid better. now it is just plain horrible no matter what I eat.

I have been told it takes months to begin healing. I wouldn't give up yet.

Tlily,
You can take the doses together. I've been doing it for 4 years, and was instructed to do so by my doctor. We've experimented by changing it around sometimes, and I've found that for me, separating the doses brings back the symptoms.
I take the doses together first thing in the morning and wait 30 minutes to eat.
I also take one capsule of Zegerid at bedtime if I'm having breakthrough symptoms. That is also very effective.

I may try taking two. I am scared that it may be two much all at once for me but I still have burning so I may give it a try. I have to try something. Something has to work.
