I recently have had dental work done which is not complete because when i was fitted for my permanent crown i was still having discomfort in my tooth so they decided to use the temporary cement in case i had to go back for another root canal. i was scheduled to go back in October for my next cleaning which we agreed that if i was not having anymore pain they would then use the permanent cement. A week later my crown fell out. I was furious. I have been to this dentist almost every week for a month getting work done. I decided to get a second opinion.
The NEW dentist told me that the reason I was having pain is because they did not fit the crown to the cross bite i have and that is why i had pain. I had to pay him for the visit which was another $50 some dollars.
I had made up my mind that i would not go to the original dentist for several reasons.
1) I was not offered payment options and when i questioned them they said they did not think it would pertain to me (even though they knew i did not have insurance) and they also told me they would ask. No one has gotten back to me on this.
2) My mother went to this dentist and they kept cancelling her appts. Then they billed her insurance company for work that did not begin. Her insurance company has received their money back.
3) I made an appt well in advance and then I received a phone call the day before asking if they can change it because of an emergency. If it was an emergency then why didnt they change someone's appt that day?
4) received my first bill in June. Then i get a call from a nasty woman in their office asking why i have not paid the balance. I told her that my tooth fell out a week later and i went to get a second opinion. Told her about them not fitting the tooth right and that the dentist also pointed out that someone who is in their late 20's really did not need to get sealers. she told me i was wrong. I told her i felt that i overpaid and again she told me i was wrong. I told her about the situation with my mother and she had nothing to say. I ended the conversation with her that i was righting them a letter and will cc The American Dental Association.
5) just received another bill from them (coincidence that i just had this conversation with her on tuesday) and there is a flouresent sticker saying "payment due within 10 days or immediate action will be taken." Also noticed that they charged interest. Saying that I am 90 days late. I got my first bill the mid of June it is only the mid of Aug - sounds like 60 days not 90 days.
Can a dentist charge interest? I need help on this situation.
Thank you for reading and i look forward to hearing from someone. :dizzy:
