My husband(we are separated) was just diagnosed with MS this week after a very serious seizure/injury and many tests. His doctor is recommending that he live in a group home for his protection since he lives on his own. Can anyone on this forum explain what group homes are like? What they can offer for MS patients? Or even tell me where to search for information.

thank you...

He had a seizure of serious degree back in October. Two weeks ago I found him in bad shape. He had fallen (bruises all over his body) and had another serious seizure ( know from signs in his home and test at the hospital). We are not sure how long he had been in that state. He has lost some memory in this whole process and is slowly getting it back.

I spoke with him yesterday after the doctor came to see him. I've not talked wth this doctor (neurologist) personally.I am only basing the group home info. from his conversation. I personally would like to hear the doctors views on this. I'm wondering if he was told he couldn't live by himself and group home was one option. If indeed it was an option then I'd like to see him move in with his parents or get a place on their property so he can still have some privacy but have them near by. Group home sounds scarry but then I really don't know anything about them.

This is so hard on me. He wants me to move back but he doesn't remember why I left in the first place. This isn't possible because of what I experienced while living with him. It was not safe for me mentally or physically. I can't take a chance of this reoccurring for my children and mine own well being.

thank you ... I hope to find out more this week from his doctor. I think emotionally he is just trying to pull my strings. But I can't say that I wouldn't do the same.. I imagine this is a very difficult time for him right now as it would be for anyone. Again, thank you for your responses.
