Hi can anyone help, with some advice, i was diagnosed with anemia in jan i had a hemoglobin level of 5, the docter priscribed iron and did start to feel better recent tests show that my levels are fine now, so why certain times do i still feel the chest pain the palpatations, breathless tried etc i have had heart investigations all clear, i just feel terrible HELP please:confused:

Hi Glady,I sorry your still not feeling right .Do you know your levels of Ferritin (iron stores)? Because you can have low ferritin levels and not be clased as anemic .Low ferritin levels can make you feel quite ill. Maybe a little reserch on the net about ferritin levels and another visit to your doc for a blood test to check your ferritin might be a good idea .I hope you feel better soon and do let us know how you get on take care Julie(scooby coo):wave:

I had to write when you mentioned chest pains! I have had chest pain and pressure since Nov. 2005. No one has ever said that being anemic may be causing my chest pains? Were you told that your chest pains were from low iron? I'm really curious about this!

Carnt say if your chest pain is due to anmia you would need a test at doctors for that, but i have since been told that chronic anemia can cause angina like symptoms and if left untrested can cause heart failure due to the heart having to work harder due to lack of oxygen:) if you are worried ask for some tests.

my 11 year old daugher has sickle cell anemia and always complain of chest pains weekly shes always short of breath her specialist cant find a problem with her heart or lungs
