I've had headachs for years, all kinds. For the last 9 years or so I get them very often behind my eyeball, or on top of my eyeball. Usually only one eye at a time. I take Zomig and Imitrex for them, as this is all that works. I also take topamax, but I don't know if that's really doing anything.

Really, my main question is, does anyone else get these kinds of headachs, and do you know what they are called? I've had a CT, and been to the MD. They just say they are headachs...

Thanks!! :)

oh yes you are far from being alone on this one. I have had migraines behind one eye or the other for over 20 years. I have a question for you..Do you get flashing lights then blindness for a minute or so or have distorted vision. I have spells like this when my headache has ended or before it starts not every time but spareingly. Quick tips for the eye aches hot hot soak running very hot water over head followed by icy wash cloth over eye it helps me some when im home ab=nd able to deal with it.:dizzy:

No, I usually don't have the lights or vision changes. I will try the hot/cold thing. Hot showers work as well, for me at least. I had to take 2 zomig yesterday, and one today already.:blob_fire I hate these things! Thanks for the reply-I was begining to think I was weird. ;) lol.

The dr. just put me on phenobarbital to prevent the eyeball headaches otherwise known as migraines. So far I havent noticed improvement. Thank God i'm have the imitrex to pop when needed. Have you tried any anti convolsent drugs for prevention?

I've always heard that headaches behind the eyes were sinus headaches. I get them, usually behind/above my right eye.

I take Topamax for them, but I don't think it has really been helping. Imitrex and Zomig are the only things that help. Ibuprophen(sp) won't do a thing for this kind of headach, but it's funny that you mention sinus's because at one point sudaphed would help, but not anymore. I can't stand these things.

yes ive heard them called sinus headaches, and cluster headaches. but I have been diagnost as having migraines behind the eyes. So far the phenobarbatol isnt helping I get migraines every day behind the eye. i have another appointment on the 18th. hopefully they will find something. The imetrex works great but pricy when taking every day.

I get them frequently as well, and I take zomig like candy..It's all that helps. Often I get free samples from my doctor, but my concern is are these meds long-term harmful if taken so often?? For me, they are all that helps, and I can not stand having those terriable headachs behind one eyeball. How often do you take your migraine meds?

yes the imetrex helps me too . my fear is my headaches have gone from about 2 weeks out of every month to daily. I take imetrex every day. Other symptoms include loss of memory, and nose bleeds Here it is 9 am and I feel another headache rising behind the eye! My husband even jokes about attaching a gps tracker to me in case i get lost.! I'm only 40 years old I totally quit drinking alcohol and I just dont know what to do. Like I said earlier I go back on the 18th for another appt.

Well, good luck w/your appointment. I hope they figure it out. I get them more frequently as well. And the tompamax seems to be not helping a bit. Although I've had different versions of migraines since I was a kid, I've had these for about 8-10 years. These have been lables migraines as well. What do you think about this, though....someone said sinus's, but do you think you(and I'm looking at myself) could have a trigger w/ pollen or something? What I'm thinking about asking my doctor about is maybe trying a once a day allergy med to see if that controls them. But, if they "eye ball headach" were to be allergy or sinus related, then why would Imetrix and Zomig work so well?? I can say that I do seem to have them more frequently during that time of the month...these really suck!!

I am having a headache behind my eyes when I blink. It is kinda like a stab bing pain. Is this what you are having?

On top of the regular h/a's and migrianes I had, I started getting the severe eye pain and h/a's from that also. Come to find out, my sinuses had dried up pretty bad. My doc gave me a nasal spray and antibiotics which cleared it up within a couple days. I had no idea that you could have sinus problems without having a runny or stuffed up nose. I was started to get very small nose-bleeds, but didn't connect the two.:p Topamax was probably the culprit--I was not getting enough water. Good luck!!
