View Full Version : Headrush?

I experience the usual problems I've read others having issues with, but this is something I have yet to see and I'm wondering if it's related to my TMJ or something else entirely.

Often times, when I lie on my stomach and prop my head up in my hands, I get a terrible pounding sensation (what I assume is blood pumping) followed by a headrush, and if I don't put my head down, I feel as though I might pass out. At times, I'll get the same feeling if I stand up too fast or talk too quickly.

I've had a CT-scan and three basic neurological tests (testing eye movement, muscle strength, etc...) and the doctor seemed pretty confident that it isn't a neurological problem. It drives me crazy, though, not to mention scares me to high heaven...

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yes, I have the same problem, as does my mother and sister. My mom's doctor said it is caused by low blood pressure from which we all suffer. Sometimes it feels really queer... :dizzy: but, if you have the same problem, it is nothing serious - just drink loads of coffee and eat salt. ;)

My sister suffers from this as well - same thing low blood pressure. Dr said hers occassionally gallops or rises suddenly causing the head surge. Meds only made things worse so now she just has to try and live with it. In additin to salt, drink plenty of water since dehydration can affect it as well.
