Hi my name is Jarrad and I am from Australia with mild CP. I decided to start this thread so that teenagers with CP could talk to each other.
I go to a mainstream school and there is no one else with CP. and I usually get teased or get discriminated againest because of my disability. This has made me feel like an outcast because I am alone. I do really good at school but I am sometimes depressed and bored at school. One thing that depresses and annoys me and school is that I am pretty good at sport for someone who has CP and against able-bodied people I do quite well. But I always get picked last for sport and this makes me think that they think that 'the stupid cripple can't play sport'
I have exactly the same interests as every other teenager but it would help if I could talk to some teenagers with CP my age.

Hey Jarrad (cool spelling!)
What you write about totally brings me back to my school days! I too would always get picked last! When I entered high school from age 13 and onward, this wasn't an issue. Believe me when I tell you that one day you will realize that the teasing has stopped! It really will.
As we get older we learn to look beyond the superficial, though sometimes there are a few folks out there who never seem to mature to that point. I look back on my elementary years, one boy in particular who used to tease me mercilessly and actually beat me up... I now recognize that his life was in turmoil at home and it helped take attention off of him if he make a spectical out of me!
Just keep doing what you'ree doing, getting by the best you can. I know that when these kids get older they will look back on the amazing guy who took part is sports and was in mainstream school and did everything a 'normal' kid did even though he had a disability. IMO, this make y ou stronger than anyone there.
Take Care

I'll be staying at a friends place in Perth as well, so I still be able to post messages and use MSN.
I'm going to a INXS concert in September! :) The only bad thing is I might have to get botox in my arm. :(
