I had a root canal done on a tooth 9 years ago (upper right; last tooth in back). For the past 2 weeks, I have developed an abcess on the roof of my mouth, caused by a bad root in the tooth that had the root canal. My options were to see a root canal specialist; who would attempt to do a procedure that wasn't guaranteed and obviously, would cost $$$$. The second (and cheaper) option is to have the root canal tooth extracted. Needless to say, I chose the cheaper option!
My question.....has anyone had a root canal tooth extracted? Is it any more difficult than having a regular tooth extracted? I have not had either procedure done.....this is my first time at having a tooth pulled by my dentist. Can anyone share their experiences with this?
Thanks so much!
