View Full Version : I'm quiting

I've been smoking one to two packs a day since I was 14. I'm 22 now and I'm dead set on quiting before things get any worse. Only thing is, everyone I know smokes. I even live with two people who smoke heavily. It's going to be a real challenge but I think I'm up for it. August 18th is my quit day. I picked that day because I have a very busy weekend planned and I think it will help distract me from thinking about the cravings all the time. When I quit smoking, I think my boyfriend will too and then there will only be one smoker in the house. I'd hate getting lung cancer from second hand smoking, having the clothes stink when I don't even smoke anymore and to smell it all the time. I quit once for a couple months in my teens and I remember I hated the smell of smoke so I don't know what I'll do with the other person smoking. I know she has to quit smoking soon because she's having a surgery. I just don't know if she'll start back up afterwards.

Anyway, does anyone know of any products that gets rid of the smell of smoke? Until I figure out something more permanent, I'd like to have something to get rid of the smell since I can't get rid of the smoker.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated since I'm in this on my own with little support. My boyfriend doesn't think I can do it.:(

Too bad you can't get rid of the smoker who doesn't think you can do it! Use the smell as an aversion technique, you'll hate it so much, you won't want to be around it. Set up some ground rules, no smoking in the house, no smoking in any vehicles. You wanna smoke, go outside, brave the elements, be lonely and look like trailer trash with a cig dangling out of your mouth. It already sounds like your bf doesn't want you to succeed.
