I want to know what people here have felt, or gone through when they first contracted herpes? What were your symptoms before you had the sores appear? How many days after that you were infected did you start showing symptoms and what were they???

Basically what may one expect ? ( I know everyone's symptoms, duration might be different)

Firstly let me say that when i went to my doctor which what i believed to be herpes he told me that it was a simple rash due to sweat and to ignore it. I then went to a sexual health clinic and had it swabbed and it came back positive for type 2.

My outbreak was at my anal area and we had not had anal sex either. My partner had used a condom too. My first o/b occurred two months later and did look like a small red rash and it basically felt as though it stung, itched and burned. I did feel more tired than usual and i ended up having a few back to back o/b's in the same spot over the next couple of months and at one point i felt that the skin at my thigh was extremely sore to touch for a few days and i had pains which travelled bit by bit over a period of days up and down one side of my body. I've only had those particular pains once. I've had this for 1yr and 9mths. Sometimes i've had back to back o/bs, sometimes i've gone a couple of months or so with no o/b, sometimes i've gotten them just before my period.

I have never used prescription medication as i want my body to be used to this virus. I feel what helps me best is keeping my immune system healthy, getting lots of quality sleep, eating healthy, drinking lots of water. For a while i took a liquid called Astragalus (sp?....you can google it) to boost my immune system. I also take 2 garlic gel capsules daily, vitamin B and for o/b's i apply either tea tree oil or hydrogen peroxide as soon as i feel an o/b coming on. Tea tree is excellent for stopping itching and stinging sensations. Basically you need to experiment with what will work for you personally. Best of luck :)
