I've been using Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for over a year now and last month I skipped 3 consecutive days for various reasons, and that made my cycle start the day it was supposed to for a regular Sunday start, which would be on a Monday. For the past year, I have been doing a Sunday start, but my cycle doesn't start until Wednesday, so it was really 2 days early. This month, I also skipped 3 straight days, but I took my pill tonight, right before I noticed that I was bleeding. I am 2 weeks early for my period. Is this normal? Could it be because I have been messing with the hormones? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

probably, any time i miss even one pill and do not notice and take it later, then i start spotting or even start my period early.
and be careful skipping pills can make you ovulate and possibly get pregnant.
i have a friend who only missed 2 pills and now has a beautiful baby. so just be careful.
good luck, hope this helps.

It's a well known fact among pill users that any time you start messing with the pills, either forgetting them or doubling up or doing ANYTHING besides taking 1 at the same time every day, that can cause the problems you are having.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with you. The hormone levels in your pill are making you bleed weirdly because you have been messing around with the number of pills that you are taking.
All you can do is start taking it again normally as directed, and eventually it will get back to the way it was. Just know that any kind of weird bleeding or spotting between periods that happens to women on the pill is always due to being on the pill.
If you weren't on the pill and had this problem, then I'd worry a lot. But since you're on the pill, then it's not a big deal at all and nothing to be concerned about.

Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo is a low dose pill. Because of this, it may not have strong enough hormones to keep you from break through bleeding. Many people cannot take low dose pills without having break through. You may need to be put on a higher dose pill. Give it a few months, if you are still having break through then I would call your doctor and have your pill changed.

Sorry, I didn't see that you have been on it for a year. I take back what I said and agree with the other posters!!:)

Thank you all very much! I was not aware of breakthrough bleeding, so I was pretty surprised when it happened, but now that I know it's normal (for my condition, anyway), that puts my mind at ease. Thank you again!
