Okayin a quest for a solution to my problems I have traced my family history and found my mum was severely anaemic a few years back.

Now my symptoms over the past 4 months have been holding me back from normal life. I'll list my symptoms and I would appreciate any input as to whether fols think I could be anaemic or not.

1) Im 23 and over the past 3 years I have lost alot of hair (male) but it is not in the family.

More recently;

2) Vertigo attack resulting in ongoing lightheadidness and dizzyness.

3) Headaches (Mild to moderate)

4) Anxiety, although this is a general term I have given to it because I dont know how else to describe the feeling of being 'off'.

5) Tired

6) Foggy head and feeling like Im looking at the world through the wrong prescription glasses.

7) My nails have vertical creasings down them and feel quite brittle although I have probably always had that but just didnt notice it.

8) A feeling I cant really describe like sometimes all my muscles ache and others I just feel very off.

Anyone any ideas if this ould be anaemia? Thaks for the help:angel:

If you find out what your problem is can you please let me know because my sister and I have the same problems al the time. Don't really know what is wrong with us.

She has been tested for lots of things but I do not know if she has been checked for anemia.

I have not been tested for anything but hope to soon.

Yes i will do once I see a doctor

I forgot to mention, my mother was severly ill will anemia about 10 years ago.

Does that give me a higher risk of developing it?

Your symptoms sounds like aneima, but then it could be your thyroid. Only getter the ferritin and thyroid test can u really find out what it is causing all your symptoms. Get both test done, not just one or the other. People with anemia will also have thyroid, esp hypothyroid problems. The best person to see about the anemia is a hematologist. You could have your pcp do the test, but take the results to a hematologist. Good luck

My pcp says my ferritin level at 10 if fine, on the other hand my hematologist looks at the same report and says you need iron iv asap. We are shooting for a sustained level of 50. Have not gotten there in 8 iv iron treatment. It goes high wow all the way to 46 and back down to 10 three months later.
