Within the past two months, intercourse has become painful for me. The left side of my vaginal wall feels bruised and hurts very badly during sex. I went to the OBGYN and she did a pelvic exam and said that my left ovary feels like it may have a cyst and wants me to get a sonogram. She seems to think it's related to the vaginal discomfort, but i don't see how an ovarian cyst could cause a problem in the vagina? My other question, what will the do during the sonogram? Will they need to biopsy it if they find a cyst? What other things would be signs of ovarian cancer? thanks for reading.

Try not to worry cyst's are very common, And yes theycause a lot of pain. When you have your scan they just put jelly on your belly and look at a TV sometimes they do a vaginal scan this does not hurt.
You will be fine hun...Mandy

I have a recurrent cyst on my left ovary...it goes away by itself and I actually never even knew it was there until an ultrasound several years ago. It popped up on the ultrasound I just had for my situation now and again I didn't even know it was there. I do know many women who have painful ones, though, and theirs are harmless as well. I also had the transvaginal ultrasound and it doesn't hurt...although with your pain during intercourse it may be uncomfortable for you (but no more so than what you have already experienced). You will be just fine...fortunately most of the time the things we freak out about are nothing...just another wonderful part of being a woman. Take care of yourself and good luck!!
