View Full Version : Mineare's treatments

I'm three and a half months into an odyssey -- no, nightmare -- of vertigo that has been diagnosed as atypical Mineare's. I have gone through a battery of testing, and then some: CAT scan, MRI, EEG, ENG, ECOG, Western Blot test, blood tests (not to mention an acupuncturist, a naturopath and a a 'Body Works' practitioner). Unlike most Mineare's sufferers I have not vomited once, despite severe vertigo episodes. Also unusual for Mineare's is that I am dizzy, somewhat, 24 hours a day. I am not completely convinced that they've even got the diagnosis correct. Well, now it's time for treatment. My neuro-otologist thinks I should go with a permanant shunt (which I cannot afford through him because my insurance does not cover his practice). The ENT doctors (with my insurance provider) do not want to perform the shunt. They think I should self-administer gentamicin drops through a temporary shunt they want to install on August 29th. My friends think that instead I should try a naturopathic medicine they've recently learned about called Vertigoheela. Given the risk of permanant hearing loss with gentamicin I am tempted to give almost anything else a try but, unfortunately, time is of the essence. First, this condition is driving me mad. Second, I have been off work for nearly 4 months now and I am worried about losing my job of 13 years....my question to anyone out there is this: does anyone have experience with Vertigoheela? Thanks!

I just have to say that the gentamicin drops really scare me. I have had dizziness for 3 years now and I still wouldn't try gentamicin yet. It is permanent. I think it should be left as a last resort, but the choice is yours. See, what scares me about it is, what if the problem wasn't with your inner ear, but say, migraine? Now you have permanently damaged your ear. I think you should really think about it before you jump into it. How often do you have true spinning vertigo attacks? I get them about once every 3-4 months. I am in a constant state of dizziness 24/7. Some days are better than others, but I have never felt right in these 3 years I've been dizzy.
Hope you find the answers you need
